Install Rdap with rust

Install Rustc and icann-rdap from source

This installation is for non-mac users using Openstack VM under Linux. Works with ubuntu and RHEL

  • For Almalinux or RHEL systems
dnf install curl epel-release cmake gcc make -y

  • Download and install the rustc package using the below command
curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://sh.rustup.rs | sh
  • Press enter and wait for it to finish

  • Source the env file shown after the installation

This is usually done by running one of the following (note the leading DOT):
. "$HOME/.cargo/env" # For sh/bash/zsh/ash/dash/pdksh
source "$HOME/.cargo/env.fish" # For fish
source $"($nu.home-path)/.cargo/env.nu" # For nushell
  • Use the following
. "$HOME/.cargo/env"
  • Download the repo and build the binaries
    git clone https://github.com/icann/icann-rdap.git

cd icann-rdap/
  • Build command
    cargo build --release

  • There will be some warnings, but you can ignore them.
  • Keep in mind that it will take some time to build it.
  • Then copy the binary from target/release/rdap
cp -v target/release/rdap /usr/local/bin/
'target/release/rdap' -> '/usr/local/bin/rdap'
  • During build some issues may occur, but most of the time the binary is being built and it works
